Visitors LOVE Lake Okeechobee
Lake Okeechobee is loaded with some of the biggest and best bass in the U.S. I still have not caught a bass 10lbs or bigger yet, but plenty in the 5lb-6lbs range. But i have confidence if I continue fishing, I will.
Visitors LOVE Lake Okeechobee
This huge lake of grass is the water system not just for recreational opportunities, but for water supply for much of south Florida. The water is shallow and there were lots of examples of wild life – fish jumping, snakes sunning themselves, and many types of birds. There is a bike/walking trail, boat ramps, plenty of parking, picnic areas, and various piers to people-watch and watch the environment.
Visitors LOVE Lake Okeechobee
This is a special place and makes such a change from the tourist commercialism of the east and west coasts. The lake is huge, peaceful and beautiful and hosts a great range of wildlife. Okeechobee has a pier which is a great viewing spot. We went out both evening and early morning and saw a large alligator, a huge copperhead snake and a variety of birds including cranes, a spoonbill, limpkins, swamp hens, sanderlings, hawks & kites.
